A 1991 adventure RPG based on The Secret of Blue Water
The briefing
Fushigi no Umi no Nadia is an adventure and role-playing game based on the anime series The Secret of Blue Water, which is loosely inspired by the stories of Jules Verne. Set in 1889, the game follows Jean, a young scientist who meets Nadia, an African circus performer pursued by the villainous Gargoyle.
Nadia’s pendant holds magical powers and is sought for the construction of the Tower of Babel. Jean and his companions must use their abilities and inventory items to progress through the story and oppose Gargoyle.
Presented from a top-down, third-person perspective, the game allows direct navigation of the characters. Nadia and other allies join Jean in an RPG-like structure, with each character providing item-based abilities. There is no combat, and progression relies on using inventory items at key points rather than solving traditional puzzles.
