World War II submarine simulation in the Pacific

The briefing

About this game

Gato is a real-time 3D submarine simulation game set in the Pacific Ocean during World War II. As the commander of a United States submarine, the player tracks and intercepts Japanese warships across randomly generated maps featuring randomly placed islands.

Missions focus on closing in on targets and using the periscope to determine the correct angle for torpedo attacks. Enemy vessels can return fire, requiring the player to direct damage control efforts while the submarine is under attack. A mission is completed after all targets on the map have been eliminated.
