The briefing

About this game

Ghostbusters: The Video Game is an action-adventure shooter set as an official sequel to the two Ghostbusters movies. Players control Rookie, the newest member of the team, after a mysterious ghostly shock wave spreads through New York City.

Rookie explores locations connected to the films and new areas while working alongside the other Ghostbusters. Ghosts must be weakened with the appropriate proton pack mode, stunned, and dragged into a trap. Other enemies require players to expose and remove weak points or deal enough damage to defeat them.

Players can scan enemies and objects to expand their information entries, while hidden pages unlock concept art. Proton pack upgrades are granted throughout the game, and collecting enough scanner entries increases Rookie's health. If the whole team is knocked unconscious, the game resumes from the last checkpoint.

Console Versions

The Wii and PlayStation 2 versions share the same story, settings, and much of the dialogue found in the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows versions, but feature condensed and redesigned levels, a cartoon-like visual style, and redesigned or removed bosses. The Wii edition also supports two-player story co-op and allows players to choose a female Rookie, although this does not change the story.
