About this game

High Seas Trader is a strategy and management simulation from Impressions Games. Set during the 17th and 18th centuries, it places you in the role of a merchant sea captain seeking profit and influence across a changing world of ports, commodities, and political challenges.

Trading is central to the experience. Commodity prices change over time, requiring careful planning as you choose where and when to buy and sell goods. Alongside commerce, you must manage your ship and contend with a more detailed sea-combat system.

Your long-term ambition is to advance through the ranks of the Merchant Guild, ultimately reaching the status of Viscount. The game combines business simulation with challenging naval encounters, rewarding players who take time to learn its systems and tactics.

Key Features

  • Trade a wide range of commodities between ports.
  • Monitor changing prices and plan profitable routes.
  • Manage your own merchant ship.
  • Engage in detailed sea combat.
  • Advance through the Merchant Guild toward the rank of Viscount.

High Seas Trader was released for Commodore Amiga and DOS, including MS-DOS, and was released in Europe in 1995.
