A 12-bit action-adventure RPG about shifting between 8-bit and 16-bit worlds.
The briefing
High Strangeness is a hybrid action-adventure and role-playing game inspired by classic adventures and RPGs. Its defining mechanic lets players switch between 8-bit and 16-bit worlds, using the differences between each era to explore and solve puzzles.
The story follows Boyd, a young man drawn into a mysterious world inhabited by the Shadow Men. As he investigates a strange item and a series of sci-fi and paranormal events, Boyd becomes involved in a cosmic struggle for peace across the universes.
Pixel-art environments are accompanied by visions of watercolor illustrations that reveal more about the surrounding mystery. A chiptune soundtrack by Dino Lionetti and Rich Vreeland complements the game's unusual atmosphere.
