Survival horror in a vampire-infested hotel casino

About this game

Countdown Vampires is a PlayStation action-adventure horror game developed by K2 and published by Bandai. Released in 2000, it follows police officer Keith J. Snyder during the grand opening of Desert Moon, a horror-themed hotel casino in Casino City.

After a fire causes the sprinklers to activate, black water transforms the dancers into murderous vampire monsters. Snyder must investigate the mystery while protecting himself, rescuing guests, and using white water and an Anesthetic gun to restore transformed victims.

Gameplay

The game uses 3D characters moving through 2D backgrounds with fixed camera angles. Players explore the casino, solve puzzles, find keys and cards for locked doors, and use computer terminals, maps, and vending machines to support their progress. E-mail accessed through the terminals helps advance the story.

Snyder begins with a tranquilizer gun, a shock glove, and an unlimited supply of vampire-destroying white water. Additional weapons and items include pistols, shotguns, and grenade launchers. His condition is shown on the inventory screen by a color-based gauge: green indicates health, yellow indicates injury, and red signals a fatal condition. Health items can restore him.
