Dynasty Warriors 5: Xtreme Legends expands Dynasty Warriors 5 with three additional modes: Destiny Mode, Xtreme Mode, and Legend Mode.

In Destiny Mode, players customize a character, choose to join Shu, Wei, or Wu, and fight alongside a selected officer who can continuously heal them while nearby. The mode also includes opportunities to change allegiance and set up ruses that can lead to ambushes against opposing commanders.

Xtreme Mode challenges players to survive for as long as possible while collecting gold dropped by enemies. Gold can restore health and temporarily increase statistics. Musou Mode and Free Mode require the original Dynasty Warriors 5 game disc.

The game was developed by Omega Force and published by Koei for PlayStation 2.
