World War I wire-frame fighter flight simulation
The briefing
Dawn Patrol is a one-player World War I fighter air-combat simulation set during the 1916–1918 period. It uses real-time 3D wire-frame graphics to represent aircraft and terrain, along with a simplified two-dimensional cockpit panel.
The player can select from 12 German, British, and French aircraft, including the Fokker Triplane, Sopwith Camel, Fokker D.VII, and S.E. 5. Opposing aircraft can also be selected, with up to five enemies appearing at once, limited to one or two aircraft types.
The cockpit instruments include an altimeter, compass, and airspeed indicator. Released in 1982, the game was available for Apple II, Commodore Amiga, and Microsoft MSX.
