Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game has moved far beyond its 2023 debut, with Ravensburger confirming a broad slate of new sets, collector products, original-world storytelling, event experiences, and a digital version of the game. The announcements arrive as the physical TCG has sold more than 2.8 billion cards, building a community that spans competitive players, collectors, Disney fans, and families discovering tabletop games together.

During a D23 presentation focused on the game's road ahead, Disney Lorcana co-founder Ryan Miller discussed how the team is balancing that rapid growth with a long-term approach. The result is a roadmap that embraces beloved Disney and Pixar properties while also further defining Lorcana's own settings and mythology.

Hyperia City is the immediate focus, having launched on October 23, 2026. But the game's plans stretch into 2027 with the villain-focused Into the Inkdark, the outer-space setting of Cosmic Quest, a new premium Collector Booster line, the arrival of WALL-E and EVE, special Beauty and the Beast cards, a visual guide, cruise ship activities, and an official digital adaptation.

Hyperia City builds Lorcana's original world

Hyperia City introduces the world of Coco to Disney Lorcana while adding Ink Drops, a new energy source that could reshape resource management and deck-building decisions. The set also represents a notable step for the game's internal lore. Rather than merely using an existing Disney setting, the creative team has developed a bustling urban center within the realm of Lorcana itself.

For useful background on this topic, read Shigeru Miyamoto Says He Has Several Projects Underway at Nintendo.

Miller described the setting as the answer to a straightforward creative question: what would an urban environment in Lorcana look like? That concept gave the game's novelists, visual developers, and storytellers room to create a city with separate neighborhoods shaped by the Illumineers and glimmers who live there.

The name also has Disney history behind it. Hyperia City takes inspiration from Hyperion Studio, the Walt Disney Studios home between 1926 and 1940 and the place where Mickey Mouse was created.

That city-building approach is visible in the new location cards, including Land of the Dead - Marigold Bridge, Merlin's Shop and Smithy - Magical Market, Khan Industries - Greenway Landmark, Institute of Technology - Honey Lemon's Lab, and Khan Stadium - State of the Art. Familiar characters have also been reimagined to fit the metropolitan theme, with cards such as Minnie Mouse - Urban Visionary, Donald Duck - Taxi Driver, and Mickey Mouse - Best in Town.

Mickey's new card is particularly playful, as it references "Hot Dog!", the character's first spoken words. The set's mixture of returning faces, Big Hero 6 and The Sword of the Stone support, Coco representation, and Ink Drops makes it a meaningful release for both collectors and players adapting to the current competitive environment after rotation.

Into the Inkdark brings villains and Collector Boosters in 2027

The next major evolution is expected in 2027 with Into the Inkdark. The set will send players on a search for the Dark Illuminary and feature villains including Hades. Its larger significance, however, comes from the debut of Collector Boosters.

These new packs are aimed squarely at the collecting side of Disney Lorcana. Each Collector Booster will include 12 randomized premium foil cards, all featuring special foil treatments. The release will also add a new card rarity called Illustrious.

Only six Illustrious cards are planned per set, and each individual card will have a print run of just 23 copies. One revealed example is Maleficent - Biding Her Time. The number 23 was chosen as a reference to 1923, the year The Walt Disney Company was founded.

Miller stressed that Collector Boosters are intended as an additional option rather than a replacement for standard booster packs. They are designed for fans who want premium versions of cards for collections or highly embellished decks, while putting an added spotlight on Lorcana's artists. More than 300 artists from around the world have contributed to the game so far, and their names will be displayed above the rarity symbol on these products.

Collector Boosters are set to continue with every release after Into the Inkdark. Availability will be limited to Ravensburger Play Hub stores, the Ravensburger Online Store, and select Disney locations. That distribution approach means collectors interested in the ultra-scarce Illustrious cards will need to pay close attention to participating retail channels, though no prices have been announced.

Cosmic Quest heads into space with WALL-E and EVE

Later in 2027, Disney Lorcana is going cosmic. Cosmic Quest will explore a galactic biome, with early artwork showing Ariel and Flounder floating in space. The setting continues the broader creative strategy established by Hyperia City: explore places and combinations that may not be the most obvious starting point for Disney characters, then use them to support both narrative and gameplay.

Miller explained that the game design and narrative teams work closely together. Mechanics can prompt questions about the best story expression for a new idea, while a major setting can inspire designers to find gameplay that suits it. Specific mechanical details for Cosmic Quest remain under wraps.

One major confirmed addition is easier to celebrate now: WALL-E and EVE will make their Disney Lorcana debut in Cosmic Quest. Their arrival gives Pixar fans another long-requested pair of characters while matching a set designed around a spacefaring visual identity.

Beauty and the Beast, Figment, and art-focused releases

Disney Lorcana's lavish card art remains central to its appeal, and Ravensburger is expanding that side of the hobby through several upcoming releases. The Beauty and the Beast Curator's Collection, due in October 2026, is the second Curator's Collection after the Heroines Edition. It is part of the celebration of Beauty and the Beast's 30th anniversary.

The collection's art draws from the film's stained-glass imagery, using the motif to frame its character illustrations and color design. Miller called the product a love letter to both the film and Lorcana's fans, emphasizing the creative team's attention to small visual details. It is clearly positioned as a high-end collector release rather than a standard expansion.

Fans who want to see more of that art outside individual cards can look ahead to the Disney Lorcana Visual Guide, scheduled for February 1, 2027. The coffee-table-style book will compile artwork from multiple sets at a larger scale, offering a lore resource and a showcase for the game's growing body of original and character-focused illustration.

Figment is joining the game as well. Disney Lorcana will return to EPCOT's International Festival of the Arts with a new Collection Quest that includes the first-ever Figment card. More than 170,000 people participated in the prior festival collection quest, making the character's debut a natural fit for the next event. Figment's popularity reflects the unusually broad corners of Disney history that Lorcana can draw from, including characters with deep theme-park connections rather than film origins.

A digital version is in development

Perhaps the most consequential long-term announcement is that Ravensburger is actively working on a digital version of Disney Lorcana. No launch date, supported platforms, pricing model, or feature list has been confirmed. Still, Miller outlined the team's intent: make the game easier to play, practice, and learn around different lifestyles.

For existing players, the digital game could provide a way to keep playing when local weekly events are difficult to attend. It may also help players practice before competitive events or connect with the game when a nearby community has not yet formed. For newcomers, the goal is to create a lower-pressure way to learn the rules and gain confidence before sitting down across from another player at a local event.

That focus suggests the digital edition is not being framed solely as a replacement for physical Lorcana. Instead, it is intended to lower barriers to the tabletop experience and potentially guide more people toward in-person play.

More ways to find Lorcana beyond the table

Disney Cruise Line will also add Disney Lorcana activities in 2027, including Collection Quests and other experiences across the fleet. The initiative extends the game's presence into another social setting, where travelers can encounter the card game as part of a Disney vacation rather than through a hobby store or organized tournament.

D23 itself remains important to the game's history. Disney Lorcana was first publicly revealed there in 2022, when the team was still uncertain how audiences would respond after nearly two years of quiet development. Its latest presence included photo opportunities, a Collection Quest, a D23 Challenge Championship Qualifier, exclusive merchandise, current products, and pre-release items.

The 2026 D23 Collection included familiar glimmers from earlier quests alongside Coco's Héctor Rivera, an early card from the Hyperia City era. Other included characters were Angel from Lilo & Stitch, Pocahontas, Mushu, Judy Hopps, and Mr. Incredible. Additional items shown included the foil-detailed Winnie the Pooh - Hunny Wizard Premium Playmat, Lorcana puzzles, and the Collection Starter Set - Rapunzel Edition, which contains four random packs, a Rapunzel portfolio, a collector's guide, and a special Rapunzel - Ethereal Protector promo card.

There is also Quest of Wonders: An Illumineers Lorebook, a novel that takes readers into Lorcana's setting. Its story follows an Illumineer named Shanzay as she discovers an old lorebook and uncovers the account of an earlier adventure involving Peter Pan, Pegasus, and a missing mentor. The book includes Lorcana artwork and a Pegasus promo card.

With original locations such as Hyperia City, increasingly ambitious collector products, new Disney and Pixar arrivals, and a digital game in development, Disney Lorcana is preparing for a future that is larger than a sequence of card sets. The next phase is about building a wider ecosystem around the game--one where collectors, competitive players, first-time learners, park visitors, and cruise guests can each find a route into the realm of Lorcana.
