PKForge 3.0 Brings a Cross-Game Pokémon Bank and Save Editor to Android Handhelds

Android retro handheld owners who keep Pokémon saves spread across several emulators have a new tool aimed squarely at that problem. PKForge 3.0 is a free, open-source Android application that combines save editing, Pokémon storage, collection tracking and transfer tools in one interface. Its purpose is ambitious: make it easier to gather Pokémon from compatible saves, organize them in a centralized Bank, and move them into other supported games.

The app is designed with dual-screen Android hardware in mind, including devices such as the AYN Thor, RG DS and Retroid Pocket Duo line. That focus matters because emulation handhelds increasingly cover several Pokémon generations on a single device, from Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles through Nintendo Switch-era entries. PKForge is built to scan and organize supported save files on Android rather than requiring players to manually manage each individual game in isolation.

Version 3.0 substantially expands that idea. Players can open a save from a linked emulator or select an individual save file, then manage teams and storage boxes from within the app. Its tools extend beyond basic Pokémon movement, covering stat editing, inventory changes, trainer data, Mystery Gift management, bulk operations and collection features intended for players building a long-term Living Dex.

A Bank-Style Hub for Compatible Saves

At the center of PKForge is its cross-game Bank. The app lets users store a collection in unlimited themed boxes, with the intention that Pokémon can be pulled back out into compatible saves later. The transfer system is intended to work across generations, allowing a Pokémon taken from one supported save to be placed into another. The app includes RNG-oriented utilities for inspecting PID, IVs and nature. It can reroll a Pokémon's nature while retaining shininess, a feature that may appeal to players experimenting with save customization. It also has Day Care and Nursery functions, an egg factory, and the ability to generate eggs or hatch Pokémon, including an option for one egg of every species.

PKForge also offers features that are less strictly focused on editing. The Poképark is presented as a habitat where stored Pokémon wander while the player is away. Meanwhile, a Nuzlocke report can track first encounters and duplicate encounters by route. An encounter browser is intended to show the available ways to catch a species in each supported game.

For competitive-minded players or those moving builds among devices, PKForge can import and export Showdown sets. It can also generate QR codes to carry a set between devices. Supported Games Span Generations I Through IX

The supported retail game list starts with Pokémon Red, Blue, Green in Japanese, and Yellow from Generation I. Generation II support includes Gold, Silver and Crystal. The Generation III lineup covers Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed and LeafGreen, alongside Pokémon Box: Ruby & Sapphire, Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness.

Generation IV games listed are Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver. Generation V includes Black, White, Black 2 and White 2. For Generation VI, PKForge supports X, Y, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. The Generation VII group consists of Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, Ultra Moon, Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee.

Later compatible games include Sword, Shield, Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl and Legends: Arceus from Generation VIII, plus Scarlet and Violet from Generation IX. The listed ROM hacks are Pokémon Unbound, Radical Red, GS Chronicles, Luminescent Platinum and Pokémon Compass.

Emulator Compatibility and Save Safety

PKForge's supported emulator list includes RetroArch, Linkboy and Pizza Boy C for Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles; RetroArch, Linkboy and Pizza Boy A for Game Boy Advance; and melonDS, DraStic and RetroArch for Nintendo DS. Dolphin is listed for GameCube games, while Azahar, Lime3DS and Citra MMJ are named for Nintendo 3DS titles. Eden is listed for Nintendo Switch emulation.

The developer highlights a safety process for writing saves: validate the data, create a backup and then perform an atomic write. Restore points are also intended to preserve each change, giving users a route back if they decide an edit was unwanted.
