Urban Survival is an Evacuation Zone side quest in Control Resonant that begins with a suspicious line of unauthorized mines and ends at a locked-down bunker occupied by one remarkably determined resident. The mission is easy to begin, but its objectives become increasingly unusual once you make contact with the Survivalist inside. What initially seems like a straightforward rescue request turns into a scavenger hunt for a potted plant, an urn, a missing brother, and a set of keys.
The quest also has a worthwhile payoff. Completing Urban Survival awards the Plate Carrier M1 outer-layer outfit piece and the Untapped Heart Monitor Artifact. The Artifact is especially valuable because it provides a one-time free respawn when you would otherwise die. In addition, the Survivalist's Bunker becomes accessible afterward, letting you collect a container of materials from inside.

How to start Urban Survival
Urban Survival starts in the Evacuation Zone. Look for the approach to the unauthorized mines near the entrance to the Parking Lot. Before heading in, make sure to read the collectible called Investigation Order, which is located outside the Parking Lot entrance. Reading that document activates the quest.

Once the mission is active, the immediate objective is to investigate and follow the mine trail. These mines mark the route toward the person responsible for placing them, so they are more than a hazard: they are also your navigation aid through this part of the district.
Follow the mines through the Parking Lot
Proceed into the Parking Lot and carefully follow the line of unauthorized mines. The path continues through the lot, then leads out toward the southern side of the area. Keep moving beyond the Parking Lot rather than searching every nearby building, as the intended route carries you to a warehouse containing the Survivalist's shelter.
The destination is the Survivalist's Bunker, located inside that warehouse. At this stage, you cannot simply walk in and meet him face-to-face. Instead, interact with the Intercom at the bunker to speak with him.
The conversation establishes the central joke and structure of the quest. The Survivalist is still alive amid the extradimensional danger outside, but he is not ready to evacuate. Before agreeing to leave, he asks you to retrieve two things he considers essential: Olivia and his granny.
Find Olivia at Pulse Fitness Gym
Your first retrieval target is Olivia, who is found in the back office of the Pulse Fitness Gym. The location is not immediately accessible because hostile Hiss are occupying the area. Clear the enemies around the gym so you can safely get inside and reach the office.
When you finally locate Olivia, the situation becomes clearer: Olivia is not another stranded civilian. She is a potted plant. Pick up the plant to complete this part of the objective. It is an odd item to be risking your life for, but it is exactly what the Survivalist requested, and the quest will not advance without it.
Before leaving, make sure the Olivia objective has updated. If it has, you are ready to move on to the Survivalist's second requested possession.
Find Granny in the northeast apartment building
The next target, Granny, is in an apartment building in the northeast portion of the Evacuation Zone. The key detail here is that the building must be entered from above. Do not spend too long looking for a conventional ground-floor route if you are unable to get inside.
Instead, make your way to the rooftop entrance. From there, enter the building and take the elevator downward. Continue into the accessible apartment. Inside, you will find Granny, who--much like Olivia--is not exactly who or what the phrasing of the objective may lead you to expect.
Granny is an urn. Collect it, then leave the apartment building with both requested items in hand: Olivia the plant and Granny's urn.
Return to the Survivalist's Bunker
Take Olivia and Granny back to the warehouse bunker and speak to the Survivalist again through the Intercom. Although you have successfully recovered both belongings, this does not persuade him to evacuate. He has one more condition before he will consider leaving his fortified refuge.
His final request is to find his brother. This portion is more somber than the earlier errands, and it requires you to locate the Survivalist's car before you can reach the relevant apartment building.
Find the Survivalist's car and retrieve the keys
Travel to the far northern Evacuation Zone to look for the Survivalist's vehicle. It is a large, boxy car positioned in front of a street that has been blocked off by Mold. The Mold obstruction is a useful landmark: if you find the blocked street, you should be very close to the car.
Search the vehicle to obtain the keys. These are needed for the next stage of the search, so do not leave the area until the quest has registered that you have acquired them.
The vehicle and the nearby Mold barrier also help explain why this step is set away from the earlier locations. Urban Survival sends you across multiple portions of the Evacuation Zone, and this northern detour is the bridge between the bunker errands and the mission's final discovery.
Search for the Survivalist's brother
With the keys in your possession, head into the apartment building and go upstairs. The brother cannot be rescued. He has been taken by the Hiss, leaving no survivor to bring back to the bunker.
Instead of finding the brother himself, you will find a picture of the two brothers. Take the photograph. It is the item the Survivalist can be given in place of the impossible rescue, and returning it completes the remaining quest requirement.
This is the final item Urban Survival asks you to collect. Once you have the picture, there is no extra location to investigate or enemy encounter needed for the main objective. Return to the bunker one last time.
Finish Urban Survival and collect the rewards
Bring the brothers' photograph back to the Survivalist at the bunker. This ends the Urban Survival questline and unlocks its rewards.

The most mechanically important reward is the Untapped Heart Monitor Artifact. After the quest is complete, enter the now-accessible bunker and collect the materials container before moving on. Since the bunker is the place you revisit throughout the mission, it is easy to assume there is nothing else to gain there once the dialogue ends, but the newly opened access is part of the completion reward.
