One of the early objectives in Modern Warfare 4 DMZ asks players to work with the map's radio towers. The task appears during the Underground chapter and leads into the Triangulation order, which requires transmitters to be placed at multiple high points. The objective itself is not especially difficult, but the game leaves out a few useful details: where the towers tend to be, where the placement interaction appears, and the fact that a separate transmitter item is not needed.
The quickest route is to identify two radio towers that are close together, reach the very top of each structure, and interact with the appropriate part of the tower. Once the initial pair is complete, Triangulation continues with another placement at the top of La Grand Vie in Songdo Wharf, east of Hajin.
What the Triangulation order requires
Triangulation begins with the instruction to place transmitters on top of two different radio towers. The word "different" matters here. Placing a transmitter on one tower does not mean a second interaction at the same location will satisfy the next step. Players must travel to another tower and repeat the process there.
Although the objective refers to transmitters, there is no need to search the map, loot containers, buy equipment, or extract with a special mission item before attempting it. The placement device is handled by the mission interaction itself. Reaching the correct spot and activating the prompt is all that is required.

This makes Triangulation a relatively straightforward order in principle. Its friction comes from navigation and positioning: towers can be seen at a distance, but the usable interaction point only becomes available after climbing to the tower's uppermost section.
Where to look for radio towers
Radio towers are distributed across the DMZ map, so players do not necessarily need to cross the entire area in pursuit of one specific landmark. They are tall, exposed structures and are generally easy to spot once the surrounding skyline is visible. Looking across open terrain or from an elevated position can save time compared with searching every building or street level location.
For an efficient completion, prioritize towers that sit near one another. A group of three towers in a comparatively less dangerous part of the map provides a practical route because any two can be used for the initial requirement. This reduces travel time and limits the chance that the order turns into a long trek between distant points.
That does not mean those are the only valid towers. Other radio towers can also be used, and the best choice may depend on where a deployment begins. If a tower is already nearby, it is usually more sensible to use it than to travel across the map solely to follow a particular route. The important condition is that the two placements occur on separate towers.
Expect patrols even at quiet towers
Radio towers are typically not heavily guarded, which is helpful for an objective that requires a climb and briefly leaves a player focused on an interaction prompt. However, an apparently empty tower is not a guarantee of safety. Random patrols can still pass through the area.
Before committing to the climb, take a moment to check the immediate ground around the base. Since the mission does not call for fighting at the tower itself, avoiding unnecessary encounters can be faster than trying to clear every nearby threat. The simplest approach is to use a tower with a calm approach, climb it, place the transmitter, then move toward the next location.
How to climb a tower and place the first transmitter
The main point of confusion is that simply reaching a tower does not immediately produce the transmitter option. The placement must be performed at the top, and the player needs to be aligned correctly with the structure.
- Approach a radio tower of your choice. Start at its base and locate the ladder.
- Face the ladder correctly before climbing. Positioning matters when beginning the ascent, so make sure the character is facing the usable side.
- Climb until there is no higher point available. Do not stop at an intermediate section. The required interaction is at the uppermost part of the tower.
- Turn toward one of the metal support poles at the top. These poles form the tower's structure around the summit.
- Use the placement prompt when it appears. This installs the transmitter and advances the first portion of the objective.
The key visual cue is the metal framework at the summit. If an interaction does not appear immediately, do not assume the tower is invalid or that the mission is bugged. First confirm that the climb has reached its highest possible point, then adjust the view toward one of the vertical metal poles. The prompt is tied to that placement area rather than to every part of the tower platform.
Repeat the process at a second tower
After the first transmitter is installed, leave the tower and head to another radio tower. The second placement uses exactly the same method: climb to the top, face one of the metal support poles, and activate the prompt.
There is no indication that the second tower has to be a particular named tower. The practical concern is simply making sure it is not the one already used. Choosing a nearby tower is therefore the most efficient option, especially in an area where several are visible from one another.
Players who are uncertain whether the first interaction registered should watch for the mission's progress update before moving on. Once it has been counted, there is no reason to return to that tower for the initial two-tower portion of Triangulation.
The next Triangulation location: La Grand Vie
Installing transmitters on two different radio towers does not fully end the order. The next requirement sends players to La Grand Vie in Songdo Wharf. This is a named location on the map, positioned to the east of Hajin.
At La Grand Vie, the objective is once again about reaching the top and completing another transmitter placement. Use the map to locate Songdo Wharf and identify La Grand Vie before setting out. Since this stage follows the two radio-tower interactions, it is worth planning the route rather than treating the first pair of towers as the entire assignment.
The sequence can be summarized as follows:
- Place a transmitter at the top of one radio tower.
- Place a second transmitter at the top of another radio tower.
- Travel to La Grand Vie in Songdo Wharf, east of Hajin.
- Reach the top of La Grand Vie and complete the final transmitter placement there.
Common Triangulation mistakes to avoid
Most delays on this objective come from a handful of understandable misunderstandings. Knowing what not to do can make the order much smoother.
- Do not hunt for a physical transmitter in inventory. The mission does not require a separately acquired transmitter item.
- Do not stop halfway up the ladder. The relevant prompt is at the tower's topmost section.
- Do not face away from the tower framework. At the top, look toward a metal support pole to reveal the placement interaction.
- Do not use the same tower twice. The first two installations must be completed on two distinct towers.
- Do not overlook the follow-up destination. La Grand Vie in Songdo Wharf is required after the radio-tower pair.
A simple route for finishing the order efficiently
The most reliable mindset for Triangulation is to treat it as a navigation objective rather than a combat challenge. Start by locating a radio tower in a manageable area. Complete the first placement, then use visibility from the elevated position or the nearby map layout to identify another tower without making a major detour. Because towers stand out from a distance, moving between a close pair is generally simpler than searching dense locations for an obscure interaction point.
After the second radio tower, shift attention to Songdo Wharf and La Grand Vie. The named destination is east of Hajin, and the map is the clearest tool for confirming the route. Once there, climb to the top for the final placement step.
Triangulation is ultimately one of the more accessible orders in the Underground chapter. The game's limited explanation can make the tower interaction seem more complicated than it is, but the method is consistent: climb all the way up, face the metal structure at the summit, and use the prompt. With two separate towers completed and La Grand Vie reached afterward, the order's transmitter work is handled.
