FURYU has launched CRYMELIGHT, a roguelike action adventure built around a dark new interpretation of the ideas associated with Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The game is available now on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, while a PC edition via Steam is planned for release soon.
CRYMELIGHT arrives as the newest entry in FURYU's wider CRY series, combining rapid action combat with an unsettling story about death, identity, judgment, and inherited wrongdoing. Its central character is a girl known as Alice, who wakes with no memory of who she is or why she has been confined within a mysterious prison for dead souls. Her route out is not straightforward: Alice is compelled to take part in a brutal "Killing Game," fighting enemies and confronting the sins that shape the world around her.
The premise gives the roguelike structure a narrative purpose. Alice's repeated battles are not simply about surviving another run or gathering a higher collection of upgrades. Players will defeat opponents, hear confessions, and inherit sins that can be turned into materials for improvement. In doing so, Alice gradually works toward uncovering both her memories and a possible path to freedom.
A grim Wonderland journey centered on sin and memory
Although CRYMELIGHT draws inspiration from the imagery and ideas of Alice's classic literary journey, this is a considerably harsher setting than a colorful fantasy trip through a curious dreamland. Alice is trapped in a prison designed for the souls of the deceased, a place where survival and self-discovery are tied to violence. The "Killing Game" framing establishes immediate stakes for the story, while the amnesiac protagonist leaves players to discover the truth alongside her.

The game's progression is closely connected to the concept of sin. Enemies are defeated in action-focused encounters, but the aftermath involves confession and inheritance. The sins Alice acquires can be converted into resources that strengthen her for later confrontations. That system makes the story's themes mechanically significant: power comes from accepting, wielding, and ultimately facing the burdens left behind by others.
It also suggests a journey that is as much about reckoning as escape. Alice is seeking her identity, but she is doing so in a prison populated by the dead and governed by cruel rules. Every improvement can bring her closer to survival, while also reinforcing the game's focus on the moral weight of what has been inherited.
Roguelike systems raise the pressure during combat
CRYMELIGHT's action is supported by roguelike systems intended to make individual battles and runs feel increasingly dangerous. One of its major mechanics is the Wonder Dimension. As Alice defeats more enemies, the intensity of combat rises. This creates an escalating risk-and-reward rhythm, asking players to manage a battlefield that becomes more punishing as their success builds.

That structure should make momentum a crucial factor. Defeating foes is necessary for advancement, yet victory can also lead to more demanding combat conditions. Players will need to make the most of their upgrades and chosen abilities while dealing with the increasing pressure created through the Wonder Dimension. For a roguelike action game, that kind of escalation can make each decision matter beyond a single enemy encounter.
The other centerpiece is CRYMELIGHT's Poker System. Rather than relying only on a conventional ability loadout, players create a five-card hand using distinct abilities. The hand-building approach introduces a strategic layer to the game's combat, allowing the player to consider how individual cards work together and what kind of five-card combination best suits a given situation.
In practice, the Poker System gives CRYMELIGHT a way to blend deck-style planning with immediate action. The player is not merely selecting passive boosts before entering a fight; they are assembling a hand of abilities that can define their approach. Since roguelikes often rely on adapting to the options a run provides, a five-card system could offer a substantial amount of experimentation as players pursue combinations that complement their preferred combat style.
Fast action with room for build experimentation
FURYU describes the overall experience as a mix of fast-paced combat and dramatic storytelling. The Wonder Dimension and Poker System are the clearest examples of how the game intends to distinguish its action from a more linear adventure. Players must keep fighting to progress, use the sins they inherit as upgrade materials, and make choices about their five-card ability hand as the challenges become more intense.
This combination may appeal to players who want an action game with a repeatable progression loop but do not want the narrative to sit entirely outside that loop. In CRYMELIGHT, the repeated combat structure, the upgrade economy, and the story's fixation on confession all point back toward Alice's effort to understand her own past.
The emphasis on a young protagonist with no memory also leaves considerable room for revelations. Alice begins as someone defined by absence: she does not know her true identity, and she cannot simply walk away from the prison. The game's core objective is therefore twofold: survive the Killing Game and learn what Alice has forgotten.
Standard and deluxe editions are available now
CRYMELIGHT is available in a standard edition for $19.99 on PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2. A deluxe edition for $39.99 is also available for both platforms.
The deluxe edition includes six in-game items, covering weapons and character accessories. It additionally includes an 80-page digital artbook and a music album. For players interested in the game's visual presentation, character designs, and soundtrack, the extra materials provide a more expansive package alongside the game itself.
Free launch DLC is also available. The two complimentary accessories are the Scissors and the Magical Chainsaw, both of which can be equipped by characters. These additions offer players some extra cosmetic or equipment options from the game's launch period without requiring the deluxe edition.

PC release and crossover bundles remain ahead
While CRYMELIGHT is currently playable on PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2, FURYU has confirmed that the Steam version is coming soon. No release date for the PC edition has been announced. The Steam launch is expected to coincide with the arrival of collaboration bundles connected to Garden of Witches, Magical Princess, and Eternal Palace Sakura.
Details on the contents of those bundles have not been specified. Their timing, however, means PC players will have some additional crossover-related content to watch for when CRYMELIGHT reaches Steam. Until more information is shared, it is unclear whether the bundles will be limited to the PC launch window or whether they may later be offered elsewhere.
The upcoming Steam version has already generated a notable level of interest through its wishlist count. To celebrate CRYMELIGHT passing 100,000 wishlists, a special short story is in development. Further information about that story, including how and when it will be shared, has not yet been detailed.
Music by Sakuzyo and a launch illustration from YOGISYA
CRYMELIGHT features music from composer Sakuzyo, whose involvement adds another defined creative element to the game's dark fantasy presentation. Given the story's focus on a soul prison, lost memories, and accelerating battles, the soundtrack will likely play an important role in establishing the atmosphere around Alice's journey.
To mark the game's release, character designer YOGISYA has created a commemorative illustration. The launch celebration arrives alongside the game's availability on console and its plans for continued expansion through the Steam release, free accessories, and future collaborations.
For now, CRYMELIGHT gives PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 players a compactly priced roguelike action adventure with an unusually grim Alice-inspired hook. Its central challenge is not only to overcome increasingly difficult fights, but to turn the sins of defeated foes into the means of Alice's growth. Whether the truth behind her identity can be recovered is at the center of a journey shaped by cards, combat, confessions, and the deadly rules of the Killing Game.
