Etheria: Restart has begun its SS6.4 HYPA Season, Eidolon Scourge, worldwide. The update serves as the extended closing chapter for the game's SS6 Pyrite Nyx anniversary season, adding a new playable Animus, special Summit Arena rules, limited-time progression incentives, returning activities, and a new convenience feature built around daily reward collection and shop use.

The new season is also setting the stage for a major future event. XD Games has confirmed that SS7 will include a global Guilty Gear -Strive- collaboration with Arc System Works. Three characters from the fighting game are planned to enter Etheria: Restart's lineup as Animuses belonging to an entirely new faction. Their identities, kits, faction details, and the broader SS7 schedule have not yet been revealed.

For now, Eidolon Scourge puts its attention on the finale of Pyrite Nyx and the arrival of Thalos, a character designed to reinforce teams through durability, damage sharing, and disruptive pressure over time. The season is available from November 4 through December 2 on PC, iOS, and Android.

Thalos joins the Elysian faction's ranks

The centerpiece of SS6.4 is Thalos, identified as the vice-captain of the Third Manhunter Corps within the Elysian faction. His design positions him as a defense-focused support Animus rather than a direct damage dealer, giving players another option for lineups that prioritize staying power and protecting more fragile allies.

Thalos uses Damage-Over-Time effects, including Infernal Flame, to apply ongoing pressure while fulfilling his defensive duties. That mix may prove useful in longer engagements, where a character capable of mitigating incoming damage while still contributing incremental offensive value can shape the pace of a fight. His abilities also allow him to absorb damage on behalf of allies, making his placement and timing especially significant when opponents attempt to eliminate key units early.

Control effects are often among the most important tools in turn-based combat, so Thalos' immunity to them is a notable part of his kit. A support character who can continue functioning under conditions that would otherwise interrupt a team's defensive plan has the potential to offer dependable protection in difficult encounters and competitive matches alike.

He also possesses a self-revival mechanic. After being defeated, Thalos can return on a later turn with a percentage of his maximum HP. This means opponents may need to account for more than a single removal attempt, while Thalos users can plan around his eventual return rather than treating a knockout as the final end of his contribution. How strong that recovery is in practice will depend on team composition, opposing damage output, and the timing of the revival within an encounter.

Prowess Up event offers Thalos-focused rewards

SS6.4 includes a limited-time Prowess Up event centered on the new Animus. Players who fully maximize Thalos' potential during the event window can earn exclusive in-game rewards. The event provides a clear incentive for players who want to invest heavily in the season's headline character, while also giving Thalos an immediate role in the update's progression loop.

Events tied to a newly released character can be useful for both collectors and players seeking to test a unit's upper-end potential quickly. In Thalos' case, the emphasis on maximizing his development fits his role: a defensive support's value can often rise sharply as survivability and utility tools are improved. Players considering the investment will likely be watching how he performs across PvE activity and the altered Summit Arena environment.

Summit Arena gets an affinity-restricted draft format

Competitive play is receiving one of the season's most substantial gameplay changes through a new Summit Arena drafting option. The format introduces affinity restrictions at the beginning of each match. Players first select from a set of character-affinity combinations, then may only deploy combatants that fit the affinity selection made for that battle.

The system changes the normal drafting equation by narrowing the legal roster on a match-by-match basis. Rather than simply choosing the strongest available response from a full collection, competitors will need to weigh which affinity combination gives them the best overall strategic flexibility. Team construction, counters, and adaptation should become more important when a player cannot freely pull from every preferred Animus.

This could make roster depth more meaningful, as players with capable options across multiple affinities may be better equipped to respond to varying draft conditions. At the same time, specialists who know a particular affinity combination inside and out may find opportunities to exploit familiar synergies. The format should create a distinct competitive rhythm from unrestricted selection, especially as players learn which combinations create the most reliable win conditions.

The Summit Arena Special Season also raises the number of points earned from victories. In addition, players ranked below Platinum will not lose points after a defeat. That loss protection can lower the pressure for newer or developing competitors, encouraging them to participate and experiment with the special rules without the same risk to their rank. It also gives players a more forgiving route toward learning the affinity-limited system before they reach the higher tiers where every match may carry greater competitive weight.

Daily management gets a Seneschal Chaku shortcut

Outside battle systems, Eidolon Scourge brings in a new "smart-butler" feature named Seneschal Chaku. The function is intended to streamline routine management by letting players collect daily rewards and complete one-click purchases in the shop.

Quality-of-life additions may not be as dramatic as a new character or PvP format, but they can matter greatly in a live-service game built around regular check-ins. Consolidating common daily actions can reduce menu navigation and help players spend more of their available time on combat, progression planning, or limited activities. The one-click shop functionality is also aimed at making routine transactions less cumbersome for players who already know what they intend to obtain.

SS6.4 further includes an auto-matched arena event, a banner pull event, and additional new and returning activities. Specific details for every activity were not outlined, but their presence gives the Eidolon Scourge period a mix of competitive, collection-oriented, and general engagement options alongside Thalos' arrival.

SS7 will bring Guilty Gear -Strive- characters into Etheria

While the immediate update is focused on Eidolon Scourge, the most attention-grabbing announcement around Etheria: Restart's near future is its planned Guilty Gear -Strive- crossover. The collaboration was announced during the October TapTap Games Showcase and will bring three characters from Arc System Works' fighting game into Etheria: Restart.

Rather than appearing as simple cosmetic guests, the three crossover fighters are set to join the roster as Animuses. They will also represent a new faction, suggesting that the event will introduce more than a handful of familiar faces. A new faction could affect team-building considerations, affinity relationships, story presentation, or other systems, though those particulars remain unconfirmed.

The announcement leaves several significant questions open. Etheria: Restart has not named the three Guilty Gear -Strive- characters selected for the collaboration, and their roles, abilities, recruitment methods, and availability period are still to come. There is likewise no further breakdown of SS7's content beyond the crossover and the new faction connection.

That uncertainty gives the remaining SS6.4 period additional importance. Players have nearly a month to explore Thalos, engage with the special Summit Arena structure, and take advantage of the seasonal events before more information about the next major phase arrives. For competitive players, the affinity-restricted format may also offer a useful preview of how the game continues to experiment with roster constraints and team diversity ahead of SS7.

A finale update with an eye on the next season

Eidolon Scourge functions as both a capstone and a transition. It completes the extended portion of the Pyrite Nyx anniversary season with a character tailored around defense, Damage-Over-Time pressure, and self-recovery. It refreshes PvP through a draft system that forces more deliberate affinity choices. And it adds practical tools such as Seneschal Chaku to make recurring tasks easier to manage.

At the same time, the Guilty Gear -Strive- tease ensures that attention is already moving toward SS7. Three new Animuses and an entirely new faction represent a potentially meaningful expansion to Etheria: Restart's roster and strategic landscape, even if the exact shape of that expansion is not known yet.

Players can access Etheria: Restart now on PC, iOS, and Android. SS6.4 Eidolon Scourge remains active until December 2, with further details on SS7 and the Guilty Gear -Strive- collaboration expected later.
