The October 2026 ID@Xbox Showcase brought an unusually broad slate of games to Xbox audiences, mixing familiar names with inventive new concepts from independent teams. The presentation included remasters of Shrek 2 and The Wolf Among Us, a director's cut for espionage RPG Zero Parades, and a long list of original projects ranging from cozy creature collecting to tactical vampire espionage.

There were also plenty of games with immediately memorable premises. Players will be able to tongue-grapple and pinball-bounce through a hand-drawn platformer, shred enormous stacks of workplace documents for a promised million-dollar payoff, and join friends in a search for treasure at the bottom of a very large hole. For players looking ahead, the showcase's announcements stretch from releases later in October 2026 through 2027.

Shrek 2 Remastered arrives in November

Shrek 2 Remastered was one of the showcase's biggest surprises. The updated release revisits the world and major moments of the animated film, with players returning to its recognizable locations alongside the beloved ogre and his companions.

The remaster promises improved graphics as well as new features, though the full extent of those additions has not yet been detailed. Shrek 2 Remastered is scheduled to launch on Xbox Series X/S on November 10, 2026.

The Wolf Among Us Remastered gives Bigby a new look

Another returning adventure is The Wolf Among Us Remastered, bringing the 2013 narrative classic back with a substantial presentation upgrade. The new version includes enhanced visuals, revised animation, upgraded audio, and a Noir Mode intended to offer a different atmosphere for Bigby Wolf's investigation.

The remaster is also set to include behind-the-scenes material and playable deleted scenes. Bigby's werewolf form has been redesigned for this release, making the project more than a simple visual refresh. The Wolf Among Us Remastered launches on October 29, 2026.

Zero Parades: Director's Cut is close

ZA/UM's espionage RPG Zero Parades: Director's Cut received fresh gameplay footage ahead of its imminent arrival. The game places players in the middle of a final mission and the personal and professional consequences surrounding it, continuing a premise built around intrigue and difficult trials.

Zero Parades: Director's Cut will launch on Xbox Series X/S and PC on November 3, 2026. The showcase did not provide further detail on what distinguishes the director's cut from the previously known version, but the new trailer offered another look at its RPG systems and espionage-driven setting.

New adventures span alien worlds, storybooks, and music

Several of the presentation's most visually distinctive games are planned for 2027. Magenta Down is a sci-fi atmospheric adventure about surviving on a remote and hostile exoplanet. Injury, radiation exposure, and limited supplies are all central threats as players travel across the planet. It is planned for Xbox Series X/S and PC in 2027.

Mr. Records follows George, an older dreamer whose extraordinary ability allows him to transcend through music. The showcase highlighted the game's Shine Level, offering a glimpse at its colorful world and musical premise. It is currently targeting a spring 2027 release on PC and Xbox Series X/S.

Chronoscript: The Endless End takes a dual-world approach to action-adventure exploration. One side is a large 3D-rendered residence scattered with thousands of manuscript pages. Inside those pages are 2D worlds presented in a pen-and-ink illustration style. The new footage focused on gameplay and bosses, while underscoring the contrast between the two formats. The game is expected in early summer 2027 for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PlayStation 5.

Croak and LIAR put unusual twists on familiar genres

Croak is a hand-drawn 2D precision platformer starring a frog prince trying to reach the Witch's Banquet. Its movement is built around tongue grappling and pinball-like bouncing, suggesting a demanding route through hazards, boss fights, and collectible-filled areas. It is scheduled for PC and Xbox Series X/S in March 2027.

Meanwhile, Love Is A Roguelite, also known as LIAR, combines turn-based tactics, deck-building, and dating in a procedurally generated love story. Its LoveSync system is designed to make player choices consequential, linking relationship decisions with the game's strategic structure. Love Is A Roguelite is planned for PC and Xbox Series X/S in fall 2027.

Deck-builders, defenses, and creature collecting

Deck-building appeared repeatedly throughout the showcase, but each project applies the format differently. Drill Keeper is a roguelike siege-defense game in which players travel across the galaxy to obtain resources for their people. The challenge involves safeguarding mining operations and creating winding paths and traps to slow advancing enemies. It is set to join PC Game Pass in summer 2027.

Mr. Magpie's Harmless Card Game takes a more sinister approach to roguelike deck-building. Players build decks, gamble with risk, and search for powerful combinations that can turn the odds in their favor. Despite its deliberately innocent-sounding title, the game's trailer emphasized a darker tone. It is due on Xbox Series X/S and PC in early 2027.

For a gentler alternative, Waveling Island is a cozy creature-collecting game rendered in hand-drawn pixel art. The island setting is filled with mysterious creatures to discover, and the game promises crafting, battles, friendship building, and exploration. It is coming to Xbox Series X/S and PC, though it does not yet have a specific release date.

A Game About Digging a Hole Together heads to Xbox in December

A Game About Digging a Hole Together makes its premise clear: players meet at a beach, dig downward as a group, collect resources, sell what they find, and improve their equipment in pursuit of buried treasure. The cooperative angle distinguishes it from a solitary excavation, turning the act of digging into a social activity with shared progress and a common goal.

The game will release on Xbox Series X/S and Xbox on PC on December 4, 2026. Versions for Steam, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2 are planned for a later date.

More October and winter 2026 releases

Scramble Knights Online is among the closest releases featured. The MMO-lite action RPG sends players to the kingdom of Terracott as knights-in-training embarking on an adventure. A release-date trailer showed additional gameplay ahead of its October 26, 2026 launch on Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Paper Shredder offers a very different kind of progression loop. The incremental game tasks players with shredding company paperwork, sweeping up the aftermath, purchasing upgrades, and working through towering piles of confidential documents. The stated objective is a $1,000,000 payout, while the hidden material beneath the paperwork hints that there may be more to uncover. It is due on Xbox Series X/S and PC in winter 2026.

The showcase also included a sizzle reel for three games with dates or windows already in place. Arctic Eggs launched on October 20, 2026 and asks players to fry eggs on Mount Everest. Mouthwashing follows on October 29, 2026, putting players in charge of a dying crew after a space freighter is shipwrecked. Finally, No, I'm Not Human is expected in 2027 and centers on questioning strangers at the door to identify lethal shape-shifting imposters.

Dark fantasy, mysteries, and Cold War vampires fill out 2027

Vanran is a dark fantasy action RPG focused on a human slave living in the Demon Realm. Armed with a sealed blade, the protagonist rises up in rebellion. The game is planned for Xbox Series X/S and PC in 2027.

Rustown is a story-driven action-adventure set in a slum populated by infected outcasts suffering from cognitive decline. Its protagonist searches for their missing father, gathering clues and avoiding danger without necessarily fighting. Rustown will launch on PC and Xbox Series X/S on June 30, 2027.

In a Cold War Berlin setting, Red Kiss is a tactical narrative RPG from Wispfire. Players lead a team of vampire spies through a tense and fractured city. Its recent trailer introduced the recently resurrected Fritz and the wider team under the guidance of vampire spy-house leader Daddy. Red Kiss is currently scheduled for Xbox Series X/S and PC in 2027.

Finally, Graytail is a 2.5D pixel-art mystery action-adventure. A famous pilot disappears over the Pacific, and a detective plagued by an unrelenting headache sets off to investigate alongside the pilot's daughter. It will arrive on Xbox Series X/S and PC in November 2027.

A showcase defined by range

The October ID@Xbox lineup did not revolve around a single genre or style. Instead, it made room for established narrative adventures, licensed remasters, strategy hybrids, survival stories, action RPGs, platformers, and eccentric simulations. The near-term calendar is led by Scramble Knights Online, The Wolf Among Us Remastered, Zero Parades: Director's Cut, and Shrek 2 Remastered, while 2027's projects offer a wider set of new worlds to watch.

Whether players are most interested in returning to Far Far Away, seeing Bigby Wolf's story with upgraded presentation, or trying one of the event's stranger ideas, the showcase made one point clear: Xbox's independent pipeline remains full of games that are difficult to mistake for one another.
