Wuthering Waves Version 3.7, titled Prism's Illusion, Heart's Illumination, is set to arrive on September 30, 2026. The next major update for Kuro Games' open-world action RPG brings the next chapter of the main narrative, a new area in Mengzhou, two incoming Resonators, a permanent event, and an unusually extensive slate of system-level refinements.

While the headline additions will naturally be Hsin and Suoming, Version 3.7 also looks set to matter significantly for established players. Quest replay is finally being introduced for selected earlier story content, Echo inventory handling is becoming less cumbersome, team presets are expanding, and the camera receives a substantial set of creative controls. The update will also begin testing selectable resource-download tiers on PC, iOS and Android, potentially offering players more choice over the balance between visual quality and required storage space.

A new chapter opens in Mengzhou

The central story addition is Chapter IV Act IV: Simulacrum of the Heart. Version 3.7 will continue the main quest while opening the Simulacrum Nexus of Mengzhou, a new location tied to the update's themes. Players will also receive the Tales Quest Moonlike Heart, Mortal Longing, providing another narrative thread alongside the main campaign progression.

The update's new permanent event is called Blooms for the Shadow. Permanent additions are particularly notable in a live-service game, since they give new and returning players content that is not restricted to a short launch window. Kuro Games has not detailed every mechanic associated with the activity in this preview, but its inclusion alongside the new region positions it as a continuing part of Version 3.7's broader progression offering.

The version title, "Prism's Illusion, Heart's Illumination," and the names of the new quests point toward a story update with an emphasis on perception, memory and emotion. More narrative specifics remain under wraps ahead of the September 30 launch, but the expansion of Mengzhou gives the patch a clear exploratory foundation beyond its character banners and event schedule.

Hsin and Suoming lead the new Resonator roster

Version 3.7 introduces Hsin and Suoming through its Featured Resonator Convenes. Their arrival is accompanied by new weapons: Blooming Jadehaven and Unspoken Rue. The preview has also outlined the names of the upcoming Convenes, divided across two phases.

Featured Resonator Convenes

  • Phase I: As Full as Tonight, Forever; Horizon of Dawnbreak; Across Time's Waxes and Wanes.
  • Phase II: Nine Deaths, One Unbent Heart; Tomorrow in the Frame; Undefined Spectrum.

Featured Weapon Convenes

  • Phase I: Blooming Jadehaven, Kumokiri and Moongazer's Sigil.
  • Phase II: Unspoken Rue, Freeze Frame and Spectrum Blaster.

Players looking to customize the two newcomers will have additional cosmetics to consider. Hsin's Accessory: Where Dreams Shine Clear and Rover's Accessory: Not Even Close can be earned through Moonlit Path milestones. Meanwhile, Hsin's Accessory: Spring in Bloom and Suoming's Accessory: Glazed Roseate will be offered in the in-game Store. The Store will also carry the WavesLine Look Hsin and Moon.

These additions continue Wuthering Waves' approach of combining banner-driven characters with visual personalisation options. Importantly, the listed milestone rewards provide an avenue for players to earn some cosmetic content through play, while the Store selections remain separate offerings.

Five Echoes and three Sonata Effects join the system

Echo building is receiving both new collection targets and quality-of-life changes. Five new Echoes are coming in Version 3.7: Formrender, Soulfrayer, Skywatch Lancer, Bloomburst Puppet and Jade Nether Serpent. A new Phantom Echo, Phantom: Skywatch Lancer, will also be obtainable.

Three Sonata Effects will expand possible set combinations: Heart of Sworn Vigil, Flash of Electric Reflection and Flower of Tinged Yearning. New sets and Echoes can reshape build theorycrafting, particularly when they provide better options for newly added characters or help fill gaps in existing Resonators' equipment choices. Detailed effects have not been outlined here, so players will need to wait for the full in-game information before drawing conclusions about which sets will become essential.

More immediately practical is a change to Echo Backpack organization. Unequipped, non-upgraded Echoes with the same Echo type, Sonata Effect and Mainstat will automatically be combined into one backpack item, supporting stacks of up to 999. This should make it much easier to see how many comparable pieces are waiting to be evaluated rather than burying players under repeated inventory entries.

The automatic process uses a priority order for markings: Locked, then Discarded, then Unmarked. That detail should help preserve player intent when groups of otherwise matching Echoes are stacked together. In addition, Echo recommendations and equipment suggestions will account for Resonance Mode-specific Echo set recommendations for Resonators that have two Resonance Modes.

Replay earlier quests without losing progress

One of Version 3.7's most requested-feeling additions is Main Quest Replay, accessible through the Journey Log. At launch, the feature will allow players to revisit main quests from Version 1.1, Thaw of Eons; the Version 1.2 Moon-Chasing Festival event, In the Turquoise Moonglow; and Version 1.3 main quests, To the Shore's End.

Replay Mode will save progress automatically when players leave, rather than requiring them to finish an entire sequence in one sitting. That replay progress can also be reset manually. Kuro Games plans to add further chapters in future versions, suggesting this is the first stage of a larger archive rather than a one-time selection of nostalgic content.

For story-focused players, a proper replay option is valuable beyond simply revisiting favorite scenes. It can help those returning after a long break refresh their memory, allow players to experience older narrative moments with newer understanding of the cast, and preserve access to the Moon-Chasing Festival story after its original event period.

Camera, team management and downloads receive major upgrades

The Camera System is gaining new modes and a stronger range of environmental controls. Handheld Mode and Selfie Mode are being added, including adjustable poses and expressions. Tripod Mode is also receiving a more freely controllable drone perspective, giving virtual photographers greater freedom in framing shots.

New tools include Reference Lines, Quick Focus and Lens Templates. Players will be able to adjust time, weather and foliage wind direction directly from the Camera screen, alongside Global Filter parameters. Lighting templates can additionally be selected for individual Resonators. Together, these options should make it easier to set up deliberate character portraits and scenic captures without relying on favorable world conditions.

Team management grows to 20 available team setups. A new 3D Team Setup Mode can be switched with the existing 2D presentation, and players can reorder and name teams for clearer organization. Some devices may not support the 3D display mode, so availability will depend on hardware.

Version 3.7 will also begin a limited test of Tiered Client Resource Downloads on PC, iOS and Android. Eligible PC players can choose UHD, HD or SD resource tiers, while eligible mobile users can select HD or SD. The feature is intended to let players better manage download sizes against desired graphical fidelity. It will roll out gradually as the team monitors feedback, meaning not every player should expect access immediately.

Events, login rewards and community projects

The version's event lineup includes Cubie Wars, the seven-day Gifts of Waking Moon login event, Echo Erase, Dreams in the Capsule, Past Dreams Traced Seals, Artisan's Search and Beyond the Waves: Land of Xuanfang. These span combat, exploration, area exploration and photo collection activities. Waking Moon Fishing and Back to Solaris will also be available as web events.

Gifts of Singing Drizzle runs from October 22, 2026 at 10:00 until November 11, 2026 at 03:59 server time. Logging in during that period grants a total of Radiant Tide ×10 alongside additional rewards.

Outside the game itself, the update preview highlighted the Solaris Starry Stage program for fan creations, as well as Wuwa Tappo desktop pet software. New merchandise developed with RIBOSE is also planned, including painted prototypes for Tea Break Moments chibi figures featuring Jinhsi and Changli.

With its new story chapter and character additions, Wuthering Waves 3.7 has the expected appeal of a major content patch. Its more consequential impact, however, may come from the practical upgrades around Echoes, replayable quests, photography, teams and installation options. Prism's Illusion, Heart's Illumination launches September 30, 2026 on PC, iOS and Android.
