Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will return for its second season on Disney Plus on January 13, 2027. The animated Marvel series is preparing to send Peter Parker into another escalating conflict with the symbiote, while also confirming that one of Spider-Man's most enduring enemies, Venom, is joining the story.
The new season's revealed imagery gives Peter a striking new look: a symbiote suit. But the familiar black costume is not expected to remain with him forever. The organism is a living parasite, and its journey ultimately leads to a new host: Eddie Brock. That transformation will set the stage for Venom's arrival in this version of Spider-Man's world.
Eddie Brock will be voiced by Josh Keaton, a performer with an especially notable history in Spider-Man media. Keaton previously voiced Peter Parker in The Spectacular Spider-Man, a role that has made his work closely associated with one of animation's most acclaimed takes on the character. He also voiced Electro in 2018's Spider-Man game. His casting as Brock gives season 2 a performer who knows the wider Spider-Man universe from more than one perspective, though this time he is stepping into the role of a character destined to become one of Peter's most personal threats.

Venom changes the stakes for Peter Parker
A symbiote storyline is rarely just another villain encounter. The black suit has long represented a different kind of danger in Spider-Man stories: an enemy that begins as a source of power and protection, only to reveal a cost. Peter's new suit may appear "fancy" at first glance, but the creature attached to it is not simply an upgraded costume. It is alive, parasitic, and capable of finding a host whose anger and pain make the Venom identity possible.

That direction should make Eddie Brock more than a conventional opponent. Venom is historically a figure whose connection to Peter is rooted in the symbiote's experience with Spider-Man as well as Brock's own troubles. The confirmation that Brock is the eventual host establishes an important destination for season 2, but it does not explain every step on the road there. How long Peter uses the symbiote, what finally separates them, and exactly what brings Brock into its path remain among the season's major unanswered questions.
It also puts Peter in a position where winning may demand more than his usual resourcefulness. Spider-Man can handle plenty of physical threats, but the symbiote conflict introduces a danger that is directly tied to his own choices and his own identity. With Venom on the horizon, season 2 has an opportunity to explore what happens when the power Peter gains becomes something he has to reject.
Spider-Gwen is set to appear
Peter will not be facing the season's challenges alone. Gwen Stacy, also known as Spider-Gwen, is set to appear in season 2. Her involvement is especially meaningful in a story where extra webbing and help from another web-slinger could be essential. The character's presence expands the show's heroic side at a moment when Peter's ties to the symbiote threaten to complicate everything around him.
There is currently no confirmation of who will voice Spider-Gwen. That leaves a key casting detail under wraps, but the character's inclusion alone suggests that the series is broadening its interpretation of Spider-Man's supporting cast and allies. Gwen's exact role, her history in this continuity, and whether she arrives as an established hero or develops into one during the season have yet to be detailed.
For Peter, meeting another hero who shares aspects of his abilities could provide a valuable counterweight to the isolation often built into symbiote stories. It could also make the season's action more ambitious. Spider-Gwen and Spider-Man fighting together would give the animated series another opportunity to make its comic-book world feel larger without losing focus on Peter's personal struggles.
Season 1's unfinished business is still waiting
The Venom reveal is a major new development, but season 2 will also continue threads left hanging by the first season. When audiences last saw Peter Parker, voiced by Hudson Thames, he had survived an encounter with the alien symbiote. Doctor Strange, voiced by Robin Atkin Downes, helped Peter through that crisis, linking the young hero's street-level problems to the stranger, larger corners of the Marvel universe.
Several villains had been put behind bars by the end of the season, creating at least a temporary sense that some dangers had been contained. But Spider-Man's world seldom stays settled for long, and a symbiote story is not the kind of problem that can be kept behind a prison door. Season 2 appears positioned to show that the aftermath of one victory can become the beginning of another, more dangerous conflict.
The show's other heroes will be watching closely as well. Daredevil is confirmed to return, with Charlie Cox once again voicing the character. Daredevil's presence offered Peter an experienced ally with a very different outlook on crime, justice, and responsibility. His return also matters because he and other heroic figures have been keeping an eye on Norman Osborn.
Norman, voiced by Colman Domingo, remains one of the series' most important wild cards. He is a powerful figure in Peter's life and a character whose importance extends far beyond any single confrontation. The fact that Daredevil and other allies are monitoring him indicates that concerns around Osborn will remain active even as the symbiote takes center stage. Whether Norman becomes directly involved in Peter's Venom crisis, or continues to shape events from a more complicated position, has not been confirmed.
Richard Parker's return raises bigger questions
Perhaps the most startling development from the season 1 finale was the arrival of Richard Parker, Peter's father. Their reunion came with an immediate emotional complication: Richard re-entered Peter's life without knowing that his son is secretly Spider-Man.
That revelation gives season 2 another deeply personal story to explore alongside the super-powered action. Peter already balances the pressures of being a teenager, a hero, and a son attempting to understand his place in the world. Richard's presence could challenge Peter's relationships, force him to confront questions about his family, and create new risks for the secret identity he has worked to protect.
The timing is particularly difficult. Peter's encounter with the symbiote and the coming emergence of Venom are likely to test his judgment. A long-lost father returning just as Peter faces one of his most psychologically complicated enemies gives the season a substantial emotional foundation. The series now has multiple mysteries in motion: what Richard wants, what he knows, how Norman fits into the broader picture, and how Peter can keep his heroic life from tearing apart the people around him.
A crowded but promising second season
Season 2 has a great deal to juggle: Peter's black suit, Eddie Brock's transformation into Venom, Spider-Gwen's debut, Daredevil's return, Doctor Strange's previous involvement, Norman Osborn's uncertain agenda, and the consequences of Richard Parker's arrival. That is a considerable lineup, but it reflects how quickly Peter's corner of this animated universe has expanded.
What ties those elements together is Peter himself. Hudson Thames' Peter will again be at the center of a story about responsibility, but the coming season seems poised to ask what responsibility means when the threat is not merely outside of him. The symbiote offers power. Venom represents the fallout. His friends, allies, and family may all be affected by the decisions he makes before that conflict is over.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man season 2 premieres on Disney Plus on January 13, 2027. Until then, the confirmed arrival of Venom, Eddie Brock, and Spider-Gwen provides plenty to anticipate--and leaves Peter Parker with a very crowded, very dangerous neighborhood to protect.
