MW4 Season 1 is set to start on Friday, November 6, 2026, bringing the first Battle Pass, new multiplayer battlegrounds and modes, fresh DMZ objectives, and a collection of weapons and cosmetic rewards to the latest Call of Duty entry.
The launch timing is listed as 12 AM ET / 5 AM GMT on November 6. For players on the US West Coast, that translates to 9 PM PT on Thursday, November 5. The update marks the start of the game's first full seasonal cycle after a launch period that has already introduced players to the campaign, an updated version of DMZ, and the familiar community discussions around time-to-kill balance and skill-based matchmaking.
As usual for a Call of Duty seasonal rollout, not every announced item will arrive immediately. Some content is designated as in-season, meaning it is planned for the period after the initial Season 1 patch but before the mid-season Season 1 Reloaded update. The currently detailed roadmap covers the opening half of the season, so further additions and specifics may be revealed as Reloaded approaches.
When MW4 Season 1 goes live
Season 1 goes live at the following times:

- 12 AM ET, Friday, November 6
- 5 AM GMT, Friday, November 6
- 9 PM PT, Thursday, November 5
The Battle Pass becomes available when the season begins. That progression track will introduce weapons, weapon blueprints, attachments, Operator cosmetics and other unlocks. It is also where players will be able to earn the CSG-35 submachine gun, the Cronen Osprey assault rifle and the new Operator Blix.
Blackcell users will have their own exclusive reward path in the form of the Operator Zero, alongside access to a DMZ-specific vendor feature. Those elements sit beside the season's wider multiplayer and extraction-mode content rather than replacing it, with maps, modes, events and enemy encounters intended for the general player base arriving during the season.
Battle Pass weapons and in-season armaments
At launch, the Battle Pass includes two headline firearms. The CSG-35 SMG offers a new close-quarters option, while the Cronen Osprey AR expands the assault-rifle lineup. Exact statistics, unlock tiers and viable build combinations have not been detailed, so players will need to spend time with the update before the weapons' place in the multiplayer and DMZ meta becomes clear.
Season 1 will also deliver several event-related items later in its first half. The Jak 12 shotgun and the ZLR Talonhawk melee weapon are both listed as in-season event rewards. The Talonhawk is particularly notable because it appears designed to provide more reach than the standard knife, potentially making it an appealing pick for aggressive close-range loadouts.
Three APEX attachments are also scheduled as event rewards:
- Hyeon Auto Apex attachment
- Kastov 545 Apex attachment
- M16 Burst attachment
Attachments tied to named weapons can substantially alter how familiar guns perform, and the M16 Burst item could be especially significant for players who prefer a more deliberate, burst-fire rhythm. However, the roadmap has not yet explained the precise gameplay effects of any of these APEX options. Their eventual impact will depend on their recoil, damage, handling and firing-behavior adjustments once they are introduced.
The season's events are expected to supply more than weapon-related rewards. Blueprints and other customization items are part of the stated content slate, giving regular multiplayer players and DMZ squads further progression targets beyond standard rank advancement and camouflage challenges.
New multiplayer maps include Shoot House's return
Multiplayer receives a mix of completely new maps and one returning favorite. At the start of Season 1, players can expect Backstab, Canyon and Shoot House. Shoot House returns after appearances in Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3, bringing back a compact setting with a long-standing reputation as a reliable place for fast matches, weapon leveling and close-to-mid-range gunfights.
Backstab and Canyon are new additions, although map layouts and playlist assignments have not been outlined. More maps are set to follow during the in-season window, beginning with Overflow and Ministry. The roadmap also indicates that additional arenas are on the way, but their names and arrival schedule have not been provided.
The initial map list gives Season 1 a balance of immediate options and later reasons to return. Returning maps can offer a sense of familiarity to series veterans, while new locations give the current game room to establish its own multiplayer identity. How each map supports objective play, long-range lanes or more frantic short-range encounters remains to be seen.
Gauntlet 1v1 leads Season 1's new modes
Three multiplayer modes are confirmed for Season 1: Gauntlet 1v1, Dropzone and Grind. Gauntlet 1v1 is the most distinctive of the group. It adapts the Gauntlet concept seen in BO7's 6v6 offering into a one-on-one format, presumably emphasizing smaller spaces and direct duels rather than team coordination.
That setup could make Gauntlet 1v1 a natural fit for players looking to test gunskill, movement and quick adaptation without relying on a full team. Further rules have not been announced, including whether the mode will use weapon rotations, special rounds or the same broader structure as its 6v6 counterpart. Those details will matter a great deal in determining whether it becomes a competitive curiosity or a lasting playlist favorite.
Dropzone and Grind add more traditional multiplayer variety. Their inclusion should help rotate objectives and pacing during the opening weeks, particularly for players who want a break from core respawn modes. Season 1 will additionally introduce a static Kill Block combo and the Wager Watch event, though the available information does not yet fully explain their reward structure or rules.
DMZ expands with X01 and two boss threats
DMZ players will receive a new location called X01, described as a dangerous area populated by exceptionally formidable opponents. The location gives extraction-focused squads another destination to explore, loot and survive, but it also appears likely to demand more preparation than a standard run. Players hoping to investigate X01 may want to enter with a coordinated squad, a defined extraction plan and gear they are prepared to risk.
Two new boss threats are joining the mode as well: Tae-Hyun, also known as "Knuckle," and Chol-Min, known as "The Wrench." Their exact encounter mechanics, locations and loot rewards have not been revealed. Still, named bosses generally create a high-risk objective for squads seeking rare equipment or a tougher challenge than ordinary AI patrols.
Season 1 also enhances the DMZ Forward Operating Base with more ways to organize information and prepare loadouts. A Boss Board is intended to help track bosses and related intelligence. Other navigation and management additions are planned, with the broader goal of making it easier to sort equipment and plan for difficult deployments.
One especially mysterious feature is the 3D Printer. Its function remains redacted, so there is no confirmation of what players will be able to produce or exchange through it. The roadmap does specify that a Deep Vault 3D Printer Vendor is reserved for Blackcell owners. Until more is disclosed, it is best viewed as an upcoming premium-access DMZ system rather than a fully explained crafting mechanic.
A season built around progression and high-stakes goals
Beyond its new playlists and map rotation, Season 1 gives players more avenues to pursue MW4's major long-term milestones. New weapons and attachments can reshape loadouts, while DMZ's X01 zone and bosses offer additional high-pressure objectives for extraction teams. Multiplayer players, meanwhile, gain both familiar terrain in Shoot House and the promise of fresh competitive routines through Gauntlet 1v1.
The update also arrives with ongoing opportunities for players pursuing the game's most demanding accomplishments, including the MW4 Nuke killstreak and mastery camouflage challenges. New maps and weapons will naturally create more situations in which to chase those feats, although the road to either remains dependent on performance, persistence and a little favorable matchmaking.
For now, the key date is November 6. Season 1 opens with Battle Pass rewards, three maps, several modes and the initial DMZ expansion, then continues to grow through the in-season arrival of Overflow, Ministry, event weapons, attachments and more. With Season 1 Reloaded still ahead, the opening roadmap is only the first stage of MW4's post-launch plans.
