Marvel's next major theatrical event is reaching beyond the cinema in a substantial way. Beginning November 16, Dave & Buster's will temporarily become Doom & Buster's as part of an expansive promotional campaign for Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18.
The centerpiece of the initiative is a collection of dedicated in-store areas known as Doomsday Zones. Select Dave & Buster's locations are already beginning to install the Marvel-themed spaces, which turn portions of the arcade into an environment centered on Doctor Doom, the Avengers, prizes, food and drink, and playable Marvel attractions. It is a notably larger commitment than placing movie posters around an arcade or offering a single branded item at the counter. In this case, the chain is changing its presentation, its game floor, and parts of its menu around the coming film.
Visitors entering a Doomsday Zone will pass through a Doctor Doom archway before reaching the themed activities. The idea is clearly to make the arcade tie-in feel like an event space rather than a conventional retail promotion. That approach fits a villain as theatrical as Doom, whose presence gives the campaign a dramatic identity even before guests begin playing games or exchanging tickets for merchandise.
A Marvel-Focused Arcade Floor
Games are at the center of the Doom & Buster's rollout. The participating venues will feature a mix of new and existing Marvel-themed machines, skill games, and photo opportunities. The announced lineup includes the following activities:

- MARVEL Cosmic Invasion
- Avengers: Roller Race & Battle
- Human Crane
- Mystery Crane
- Thor's Hammer Strike
- The Arena Smash N Win
- An Avengers-themed photo booth
The biggest addition is likely to be MARVEL Cosmic Invasion. The tag-team beat 'em up launched on PC and consoles last December, and the Doom & Buster's campaign gives it a purpose-built arcade cabinet. Like the home version, the arcade edition supports up to four players, making it a natural fit for a venue designed around group play.
That multiplayer focus is important. While modern arcade floors often include ticket games and short competitive experiences, a four-player side-scrolling brawler invites people to stay at one cabinet longer, cooperate with friends, and create the kind of small audience that old-school arcade games regularly produced. It is also a useful match for the Avengers brand, where assembling a team is part of the fantasy.
Cosmic Invasion has continued to receive additional content since its initial release. A Doom-centered DLC pack, The Siege of Castle Doom, launches on November 10. The timing puts the add-on just ahead of the wider in-store campaign, and it is expected to be part of the activation. That makes Doctor Doom more than a logo attached to the event: he is also directly connected to new playable content in the featured game.
Prizes, Cranes, and Collectible Power Cards
As with most Dave & Buster's promotions, the campaign is not limited to the games themselves. Doomsday Zones will offer Marvel-specific prizes, although the exact selection will vary by location. The crane machines will contain branded collectibles, including newly introduced inflatables. The details around those inflatables have not been fully outlined, but their inclusion suggests the campaign is aiming for a wide mix of redemption items rather than relying only on conventional figures or keychains.
There will also be a fully stocked Avengers Funko pusher in participating zones. Coin-pusher-style attractions have long been a familiar fixture at arcades, and adding Avengers-themed Funko collectibles gives Marvel fans another route to pursue physical rewards that is separate from the ticket counter.
For players who prefer to save up points rather than test their luck at cranes or pushers, participating kiosks will carry Avengers-themed redemption items, including Collectible Power Cards. The campaign's prize selection is designed to reinforce the takeover across the arcade: Marvel is present not only on the cabinet screens but also in the potential rewards that players chase after a session.
DOOMHOUR Adds Random Double-Ticket Windows
Doom & Buster's is also introducing a ticket-focused event called DOOMHOUR. At random times during the campaign, an alarm will announce the start of a DOOMHOUR period. When that happens, customers can earn double tickets on any green swipe games.
The unpredictable timing is a clever way to bring some surprise to a normal arcade visit. Rather than asking guests to show up for one fixed promotion window, the event turns the possibility of an incoming alarm into part of the atmosphere. It also gives groups a reason to remain on the floor and keep an eye on the surrounding activity, especially when they are working toward one of the new Avengers prizes.
Dave & Buster's Rewards members will have an advantage: registered members are set to receive a 24-hour warning before a DOOMHOUR occurs. In addition, Rewards members will get access to new Rewards Challenges throughout the campaign. The advance notice may be especially valuable for regular visitors who want to plan a ticket-earning session around the double-ticket opportunity, though the promotion still keeps some of its theatricality for everyone else when the alarm finally sounds.
Doctor Doom Reaches the Bar Menu
The branding extends beyond the arcade cabinets and prize walls. Dave & Buster's bars will serve a new assortment of Doom- and Marvel-inspired beverages during the campaign. Adult guests can choose from the Doomsday's Dominion, Multiversal Mule, and Fantastic Flight.
Guests looking for non-alcoholic options are not left out of the theme. The mocktail selection includes Panther's Potion and Captain's Punch. By building a separate drink list instead of simply attaching a branded cup to existing beverages, the campaign ensures that the Doom & Buster's identity reaches another major part of the venue experience.
The scale of the food-and-drink component also underlines the unusual nature of this crossover. An arcade promotion might typically revolve around a machine, a limited prize, or a temporary menu item. Here, themed drinks sit alongside an altered venue name, designated game spaces, new cabinets, random ticket bonuses, redemption merchandise, and loyalty-program challenges.
An Immersive Lead-In to Avengers: Doomsday
Marvel has been highly visible in the run-up to Avengers: Doomsday, with promotional collaborations ranging from KFC to Major League Baseball. Doom & Buster's stands apart because it uses the physical layout and usual activities of an entertainment venue to make the promotion feel more interactive. A guest can walk through a Doom archway, play a Marvel game with three other people, compete for branded rewards, encounter an unexpected ticket event, and finish with a themed beverage.
"When one of the biggest movies of the year is coming, you don't put up a poster. You bend the knee," said Jeremy Tucker, chief marketing officer at Dave & Buster's. "We gave Doom our name. We gave him the floor. We gave him the bar... All shall play."
The language is intentionally playful, but it accurately captures the campaign's core idea: Doctor Doom has not merely appeared at Dave & Buster's; he has ostensibly taken control of it. For a character whose appeal is built on supreme confidence, grandiose declarations, and visual iconography, that angle makes considerably more sense than a subtle movie tie-in would.
Lylle Breier, EVP of Partnerships, Promotions and Events at The Walt Disney Studios, described the effort as a fan-first experience intended to extend the film's story beyond the theater and into a real-world destination. That ambition is visible in the breadth of the activation. It is designed for Marvel collectors, casual arcade groups, Rewards members looking for extra ticket opportunities, and players eager to try the arcade version of MARVEL Cosmic Invasion.
For gaming fans, the dedicated cabinet is the most significant part of the announcement. Arcade adaptations of contemporary console and PC titles can offer a very different social setting from playing at home, particularly for a genre with roots in coin-operated multiplayer action. The four-player format should make Cosmic Invasion an easy game for friends and families to jump into during a visit, while the additional Doom DLC gives the game a direct thematic connection to the wider takeover.
Doom & Buster's begins November 16 at select locations, with availability of prizes varying by venue. As Avengers: Doomsday approaches its December 18 theatrical debut, the campaign gives Marvel a heavily game-oriented way to turn anticipation for the movie into an in-person event.
