Gravity Circuit 2 now has a playable demo on Steam, giving fans their first hands-on opportunity with the upcoming 2D action-platformer. The demo arrived following its appearance during the Galaxies Autumn Showcase, alongside confirmation that the full game is targeting a spring 2027 release window.
The sequel is in development at Finnish studio Domesticated Ant Games and will be published by Dear Villagers. When it launches, Gravity Circuit 2 is planned for PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch. The current demo is available specifically through Steam.
Players curious about the follow-up can expect around 30 minutes of gameplay in the demo. It includes two stages and, importantly, access to both of the game's playable protagonists: returning hero Kai and the newly introduced Cable. That structure should offer a useful early comparison between the characters' combat abilities before players commit to either one for a mission in the full release.
A return to Kernel City
Gravity Circuit 2 takes place years after the events of the original game. Its setting is a rebuilt Kernel City, but the city's recovery does not last peacefully. A new Ark has become the base for invading forces from the Hunter Army, placing the city and its defenders under another serious threat.

Kai returns to the spotlight as a playable character, retaining the close-range identity associated with his fighting style. The sequel is not simply bringing him back unchanged, however. Its wider systems put an emphasis on player-driven move-set and stat adjustments, potentially giving players more ways to tailor how Kai performs as they advance through the campaign.
Cable is the principal new face in the playable roster. Where Kai thrives in direct, close-quarters confrontations, Cable is designed around a longer-range approach. He uses projectiles and has access to multiple jumps that can themselves damage enemies. His distinctive powers also allow him to convert defeated opponents into scrap, then use that scrap as ammunition. It is a concept that could make his resource management and positioning feel notably different from Kai's more immediate brawling.
Players will choose between Kai and Cable before beginning a mission. That decision is more than a cosmetic character swap: the heroes' differing toolkits are intended to offer separate approaches to the same action-platforming challenges. A stage built around enemy encounters, vertical movement, or concealed paths may feel different depending on whether players bring Kai's close-combat options or Cable's ranged attacks and aerial utility.

Two heroes, distinct combat options
The demo's two-character setup is one of its most valuable features. Rather than only previewing the setting and basic controls, it gives players a chance to test the sequel's central gameplay contrast. Kai remains the familiar option for those who prefer to get in close, while Cable appears positioned to reward spacing, projectile use, and creative use of enemy drops.
Cable's ability to transform fallen foes into ammunition is especially notable because it ties combat outcomes directly into his offensive potential. Instead of viewing defeated enemies only as obstacles removed from the screen, Cable players can turn those victories into additional resources. How frequently ammunition is needed, how much scrap is generated, and how the system develops beyond the demo remain to be seen, but it gives the newcomer a mechanical identity beyond simply being the ranged character.
His jumping capabilities may also have implications beyond basic traversal. Multiple jumps that deal damage can make aerial routes and attacks overlap, allowing movement itself to become part of an offensive strategy. For a game built around 2D levels with combat and platforming, that could make Cable particularly appealing to players who enjoy staying mobile and attacking from unconventional angles.
Kai, meanwhile, gives returning players a recognizable foundation. The original hero's close-combat style should provide a contrast that is easy to understand even for anyone entering the series with the sequel. The full game's customization systems could be important in ensuring that his familiar identity still has room to develop in new directions.
Customization through chips, techniques, and shards
Gravity Circuit 2 will introduce several progression and customization systems. Booster Chips and Burst Techniques are designed to affect move sets and statistics, offering players tools to reshape their preferred character's performance. The announcement does not detail every possible adjustment, but the wording suggests these systems will support more than a fixed collection of attacks and upgrades.
Booster Chips sound positioned to influence a character's overall capabilities, while Burst Techniques point toward customizable combat options. Together, they could encourage experimentation as players decide whether to emphasize mobility, offense, survivability, or particular fighting tools. Since Kai and Cable already begin from different combat philosophies, the ability to modify their builds may give the sequel significant replay value across missions.
Another progression element comes from bosses. Defeating them can reward players with Circuit Shards, which grant new upgrades and abilities. Boss rewards are a natural fit for an action-platformer built around advancement through hostile stages, and Circuit Shards may provide a satisfying sense of growth tied to major encounters rather than only to routine pickups.
The combination of character selection, Booster Chips, Burst Techniques, and Circuit Shards indicates that the sequel is seeking to expand the original formula's flexibility. Players will still be moving through handcrafted 2D environments and battling enemies, but the systems described so far suggest greater control over how their heroes evolve along the way.
Combat, platforming, and hidden discoveries
Kernel City's levels are set to combine action, platforming segments, and secrets. That is a promising framework for the two-character structure, since each hero's movement and attack options could change how players investigate difficult routes or approach enemy-filled spaces. The announcement does not specify whether every secret can be reached by both protagonists in the same way, but their contrasting abilities naturally create room for different strategies.
The demo offers an early sample of that design over its two stages. With only roughly half an hour of content, it should be treated as a focused preview rather than a comprehensive representation of the full campaign. Still, it provides a chance to assess the basic feel of combat, platforming flow, the visual direction of the rebuilt city, and the distinction between Kai and Cable before launch.
A new soundtrack by Dominic Ninmark will accompany the game's journey through Kernel City. Music was an important part of the original game's energetic presentation, so the confirmation of Ninmark's involvement gives the sequel another connection to the style that helped define its predecessor while it introduces a new narrative conflict and additional systems.
What to expect before spring 2027
There is still time before Gravity Circuit 2 reaches its planned spring 2027 window, and no exact release date has been announced. Likewise, the information currently available does not establish whether demos will come to consoles or whether the Steam build will receive updates prior to the full launch.
For now, Steam players can try the demo's two stages, sample both protagonists, and see how the sequel's core ideas are taking shape. The preview is particularly useful for fans who want to understand how Cable fits alongside Kai, as well as for newcomers looking for a first introduction to Gravity Circuit's fast-moving blend of combat and platforming.
With a rebuilt Kernel City under siege, a new Ark full of Hunter Army invaders, and an expanded set of character-building systems, Gravity Circuit 2 is aiming to build on the original while broadening its tactical possibilities. The spring 2027 release is planned across PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch, with the Steam demo offering the first playable step toward that return.
