One of the earlier side tasks in Phantom Blade Zero begins in Weeping Creek Valley, where a character named Yu'er asks for help obtaining a rare medicinal plant. Her father is ill, and she needs a Flesh Lily to prepare medicine for him. It sounds like a straightforward errand at first, but the game makes players wait before the item can actually be collected.

The important thing to know is that there is only one available Flesh Lily opportunity in this part of the game, and it is not sitting somewhere along the opening routes through the valley. Reaching it takes continued story progress, a trip through the Valley Sha-Chi Tower, and a victory over an optional boss. Players who accept Yu'er's request should not expect to finish it immediately; the needed plant remains out of reach for another few hours of play.

When the time comes, the reward is found in the arena of Hua, Deadly Betrothed. Defeating Hua grants access to a pair of plants called the Twin Flesh Lilies, allowing Yu'er's request to be completed while leaving the player with one lily to keep. Here is the full route, what to prepare for, and what happens after the hand-in.

When You Can Get the Flesh Lily

Yu'er can be encountered in the Weeping Creek Valley area, where she explains that she has been unsuccessfully searching for a Flesh Lily. Speaking with her establishes the goal, but it does not mean the item is nearby. The plant is tied to a later section of the same region, so there is no benefit in exhaustively combing the early valley paths expecting to discover it behind a breakable object or a hidden turn.

For useful background on this topic, read Grand Theft Auto VI Details Leonida's Reactive World, Crime Systems and Jason and Lucia's Partnership.

Instead, continue advancing through the main story until reaching Valley Sha-Chi Tower. The tower is located toward the end of Weeping Creek Valley and is encountered naturally as part of normal progression. Hua herself, however, is not positioned directly on the main route. Players need to make a short detour from within the tower to enter her arena.

This setup makes the Flesh Lily request a useful reminder that not every early conversation is meant to be resolved on the spot. Yu'er introduces the task early, while the route to its solution opens later. If the objective remains incomplete for a while, that is expected rather than a sign that a path or interaction has been missed.

Flesh Lily Location: Hua, Deadly Betrothed's Arena

The Flesh Lily is located in the boss arena for Hua, Deadly Betrothed. Begin at the Valley Sha-Chi Tower 1st Floor Bell. From that bell, head across to the opposite side of the tower while keeping to the right.

On this side of the structure, look for a large opening in the floor. A wooden slide leads down through the hole. Take the slide to descend into the lower area, then deal with the enemies waiting at the bottom before continuing. Clearing these opponents gives players room to orient themselves and prevents the route to Hua from becoming more chaotic than it needs to be.

After the enemies have been defeated, take the path to the left. It is visually distinguished by red flowers and candles, making it the key landmark for the detour. Follow that decorated route to reach Hua, Deadly Betrothed.

Route at a Glance

  • Progress through Weeping Creek Valley until Valley Sha-Chi Tower is available.
  • Start at the Valley Sha-Chi Tower 1st Floor Bell.
  • Cross to the opposite side of the tower, bearing right.
  • Find the large hole in the floor and ride the wooden slide down.
  • Defeat the enemies in the area below.
  • Take the left-hand path marked by red flowers and candles.
  • Follow the route to Hua, Deadly Betrothed's boss arena.

The boss is optional in the sense that she is off the main path, but she is essential for anyone determined to finish Yu'er's Flesh Lily request at this stage. The lilies cannot simply be collected by running into the arena and leaving. Hua must be defeated first.

How to Beat Hua, Deadly Betrothed

Hua is a challenging early-game opponent, particularly because the Flesh Lily objective can encourage players to approach her as if she is merely guarding a collectible. She is not. The encounter demands attention to movement, timing, and defensive fundamentals.

The arena's red flowers are especially worth watching. Avoid them whenever possible rather than treating the space as completely safe. Maintaining awareness of where Hua is standing and where the flowers are positioned can help keep the fight from becoming unnecessarily cramped or disorienting.

The battle is also a good opportunity to practice parrying and dodging. These tools are central to handling Hua's pressure, and players who focus on reacting cleanly rather than forcing attacks may find the encounter more manageable. A measured approach is particularly valuable against her dangerous grab attack. Staying alert for that move and being prepared to evade it is more important than trying to rush through the fight for the quest item.

Because Hua is encountered relatively early, this fight can serve as a practical test of combat habits that will remain useful beyond Weeping Creek Valley. Players struggling with the encounter may benefit from treating each attempt as practice: learn when to dodge, identify openings for a parry, and avoid drifting into the red-flower hazards while concentrating on the boss herself.

Hua must be defeated before the Flesh Lilies can be taken. The quest item is not available to grab and carry away during the encounter.

Collecting the Twin Flesh Lilies

After Hua, Deadly Betrothed has been defeated, approach the corpse positioned in front of her dresser. This is where the Twin Flesh Lilies are blooming. Collect them to receive two lilies rather than just one.

That extra plant matters because Yu'er only needs a single Flesh Lily for her father's medicine. The second one remains with the player after the quest turn-in. Since the Weeping Creek Valley objective yields two items at once, there is no need to decide between helping Yu'er and retaining a lily for yourself.

It is worth collecting the flowers before leaving the arena. The entire purpose of the detour is tied to this post-boss pickup, and defeating Hua alone does not finish Yu'er's request. Make sure the Twin Flesh Lilies have been obtained from the corpse before using the nearby travel point.

Returning the Flesh Lily to Yu'er

A Flesh Lily Fields Bell is located near Hua's arena. Once the Twin Flesh Lilies are in hand, use that bell to fast travel back to the Outpost Bell. Yu'er is nearby, making this the most direct way to complete the hand-in.

Speak with Yu'er and give her one Flesh Lily. She only requires a single plant and will insist that the remaining lily stays with you. The exchange resolves the immediate request, though it does not provide additional rewards at this point beyond keeping the second Flesh Lily.

Players should not interpret the lack of an immediate bonus as the end of the item's significance. The Flesh Lily thread continues much later in the game, so holding on to the spare lily is the intended outcome. Completing Yu'er's early request is therefore both a small character-focused detour and part of a longer-running element that will matter further down the line.

What to Remember Before Leaving Weeping Creek Valley

The Flesh Lily quest is easy to understand once its progression requirement is clear: talk to Yu'er early, keep moving through the story, then branch off from Valley Sha-Chi Tower to find Hua. The potentially confusing part is simply that the item is unavailable when the request first appears.

For players exploring the region thoroughly, it is also worth remaining alert for the cell key while moving through Phantom Blade Zero's early areas. The Flesh Lily route and Hua encounter are only part of what can be found while investigating Weeping Creek Valley and its connected tower spaces.

In short, do not waste time hunting the opening areas for the plant. Reach Valley Sha-Chi Tower, travel from the 1st Floor Bell to the right-side floor opening, descend the wooden slide, clear the enemies, and follow the red-flower-and-candle path. Defeat Hua, collect the Twin Flesh Lilies, then return through the Flesh Lily Fields Bell to Yu'er at the Outpost. One lily helps her father; the other stays with the player for what comes later.
